Andrea Meditch founded Back Allie Entertainment ten years ago to provide production, creative advising and strategic services to films, festivals and universities. Her most recent film, DANGEROUS ACTS, won an Emmy in 2015. BUCK won the 2011 Sundance Audience Award and was short-listed for an Oscar. She executive-produced the Oscar-winning MAN ON WIRE and Oscar-nominated ENCOUNTERS AT THE END OF THE WORLD in 2009. She has also executive produced or produced such films as GRIZZLY MAN, IN THE SHADOW OF THE MOON, THE KILLER WITHIN, DOUBLETIME and THE FLIGHT THAT FOUGHT BACK. She is currently in post-production on CAGE FIGHTER. Prior to Back Allie, Andrea built the first iteration of Discovery Films; previously she was the creative exec in charge of development for the Discovery Channel and Discovery.com. In addition to producing, she runs master classes, workshops and retreats on the art of the pitch and creative producing for the Camden International Film Festival, Sundance Institute, Hot Docs Forum and IFP. She mentors filmmakers and global artists as a film expert for the U. S. State Department’s American Film Showcase in places as diverse China, Greece and Kazakhstan. She has served as a juror for festivals including Sundance, Tribeca, AFI and Ashland. She has a PhD in linguistic anthropology from the University of Texas and a BS in communications from Northwestern. This year she received a mayoral appointment to the Santa Fe Film and Digital Media Commission to support and grow the media business in northern New Mexico.
