First Person Singular: Investigations Born through Personal Experience

National Press Club (Zenger Room)

A brother’s murder in Scotland leads to combing through rubble in Libya, in a decades-long search for his killer. An assault on a child triggers an odyssey through the criminal justice system. A career spent behind the camera shooting footage from all around the world prompts the cameraperson to turn the lens on herself. Where deeply felt experience propels a search for answers, there is more than just another story at stake. The quest poses an inherent challenge–to be both observer and observed, to live in the event and simultaneously step back. The results can prove startlingly personal and broadly illuminating at once, as singular as a fingerprint.
